About the event
The worldwide singing success of Daniel O’Donnell continues unabated after over four decades, and now it is happening in tandem with his success as a primetime TV presenter.
With a primetime TV show every Saturday night in the USA and having the number one show with his Opry le Daniel TV series in his native Ireland, it’s fair to say that when Daniel sings ‘How Lucky I Must Be’ as the title track on his new album, he really means it!
In a career spanning from the early 80’s, Daniel has travelled a long way from his Donegal shore on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, to entertaining audiences in places as far apart as Sri Lanka, Alaska, Australia, America, the UK, and of course his native Ireland.
He never forgets that he wouldn’t be the success he is today without the fans, and he gives his time generously to his audiences, sometimes spending as long meeting and greeting them after shows as he does entertaining them on stage.
In the UK the new album again broke his own record for chart success following another Pop chart entry there. He is now the first, and only recording artist, to have at least one album in the UK charts every year for 36 consecutive years.
The album is a mix of cover & original songs which Daniel has, of course, made his own. Included on the list are two songs by Patsy Kavanagh, ‘The Flowers, The Sunset and The Trees’ by Jim Reeves, and originals… ‘Will You Dance with Me Annie,’ ‘After All,’ and ‘God Has Angels,’ to mention but a few.
The title ‘How Lucky I Must Be’ was selected because it is such a lovely song, written by Isla Grant.
It does, however, aptly sum up the way in which Daniel could view his success... Daniel says, “I have been very lucky, and indeed I am so fortunate career-wise, as well as in life.”
