ED REAVY TRADITIONAL MUSIC CONCERT

Mícheál Ó Raghallaigh is one of the foremost concertina players of his generation. He has performed in Europe and America as both a soloist and ensemble member. He has recorded two solo albums as well as various other albums with the band Providence and with two three-in-a-row winning Ceili Bands. Mícheál is also much in demand both at home and abroad as a tutor of the concertina.

From an early age MacDara Ó Raghallaigh played the fiddle and developed his music skills playing at junior céilís, sessions and house dances in Co Meath.  MacDara achieved many All Ireland honours in solo, duet, trio, and céilí band competitions through all the age groups at the Fleadhanna Cheoil, including the All-Ireland Senior Fiddle at Clonmel in 1992. He is also a winner of Oireachtas and Fiddler of Dooney fiddle competitions. He was a member of the Naomh Pádraig Céilí Band from its formation in the junior age groups right through to their becoming three in a row All Ireland Senior Céilí Band Champions in 2004/05/06.

Danny O’Mahony is a traditional musician from Ballyduff in North County Kerry. He grew up playing music with the older generation of musicians in his locality. His late father Mick had a very positive influence on Danny as a young child and nurtured his keen ear and interest in traditional Irish music. Both imaginative and fearless in his interpretation, Danny’s musical style is expressive and deeply personal, and reflects his affinity with the music of past masters.

The combination of the musical genius of the O’Raghallaigh brothers and Danny O’Mahony coupled with their quick wit and great sense of humour guarantees the audience a night of fast paced unrivalled entertainment.
