About the event

Padraig Potts’ Guide to Walking” is a story full of nostalgia, innocence, Olympic standard sex and holy water salad dressing. Funny and tender, this show by Seamus O Rourke, follows the life of Padraig Potts McKeirnan, who has a habit of just eating whatever is on his plate… metaphorically that is… from growing up near the tiny rural village of Drumnamee, County Leitrim in the 70’s and 80’s to falling in love with Silvia Lang, a perfect protestant girl… to marrying Mary Tague, the priests housekeeper, who he never really liked… to getting rid of Mary Tague and her mother, who he claims invented vinegar… and eventually to the realisation that the world isn’t as big as he first thought.… Bursting with the vivacious wit that is the trademark of Seamus O’Rourke’s masterful play-writing, this show will tear at your heart and cripple you with laughter. Both playwright and actor Seamus not only gives us one hell of a script, he also executes a perfect delivery with superb timing, bringing to life through sweat, spittle and purest passion every exquisitely crafted and painfully familiar character to influence the journey of our antihero Padraig Potts. This is the tale of a generation lost between the old world ruled by religion and the new world ruled by hearts. Our unsung hero quietly shapes the world whilst accepting all that comes his way. However this is a crossover time. Could there be hope for Padraig yet?
