About the event

BORDERING REALITIES PRESENT:

THE SECRETS OF MASENCA

TOWNHALL CAVAN, THURSDAY 26th OCTOBER 2023 8PM

Devised and performed by members of Kilnaleck Youth Drama Society with movement sequences by Monaghan Youth Dance.

An original play as part of a wider youth arts project that marks the concluding phase of "Decade Of Centenary" commemorations in the border counties of Cavan and Monaghan. The young people, in response to Dr Brendan Scott's historical paper, led by facilitators Declan Gorman and Alice Lynch, came up with a fictional village called Masenca and all the secrets it holds. Fiona Keenan O'Brien worked with Monaghan Youth Dance to create the dance sequences.

This programme was commissioned by Monaghan County Council and Cavan County Council, funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under The Community Strand of the 2023 Decade of Centenaries programme and Creative Ireland programme 2023.
